Did you know that you are a person of infinite worth? You are. I know that to be the truth. I know we preachers often tell you how bad people are — that we are wicked and sinful and totally worthless. And we are. The Bible tells us that because of our sin, we deserve to die and spend eternity in hell. The Bible says that everyone of us is a sinner, and that if we are guilty of breaking one of the 10 Commandments, we are guilty of them all. That’s pretty bad because those 10 Commandments include things like murder and adultery. That’s pretty bad, isn’t it? But let me tell you something very important. You are a person of infinite worth because the Bible says that even while you were still in your sins, God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to die on Calvary’s cross to pay the penalty for your sin. Do you get the full meaning of that? God sacrificed His own Son so that you and I could be forgiven of our sin and enter into a personal love relationship with Him. I’m telling you, that makes you a person of infinite worth.
Here’s the problem. While you are a person of infinite worth that God loves unconditionally and wants to enter into a relationship with, you have to make a choice. Do you want that relationship or not? Because even though God loves you, He will not force you to accept His friendship. He will not push Himself on you. He simply invites you to enter that relationship with Him. However, too many people never do. And that breaks God’s heart. 2 Peter 3:9 says that He is “not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” That means turn from our sin and turn to Him. That means letting His Spirit transform our hearts and our minds which results in a life of holiness. And He will do it if you let Him.
