What a great way to start the day! I had the privilege of praying with 7 mighty men of God! Thank you, Bro. George Mills and Bro. Frank Smith for getting our Men’s Prayer Group started. Let me encourage all men in the Decatur, Alabama area to join us at Java Jaay’s on the Tuesday following the first Sunday each month. Next month we will meet on December 6 at 8 a.m.
Let me encourage you to take time to pray today for the election and for our nation. And make sure you go out and vote. And then pray some more. Two things that I want to remind you of. One — the heart of the king (and president) is in the hand of God. He can and will move the heart to do His bidding. That means that we get as a nation (and as a church) what we deserve. I saw something this morning in our Bible reading that in all my years of intensive study of the Old Testament that I have never seen before. Or if I have seen it, I had forgotten. King Zedekiah was around 32 years old when he was captured by Nebuchadnezzar. The last thing he saw before his eyes were plucked out was his sons being brutally killed. That means his sons were probably 10 and younger. Can you imagine that? How wicked must Judah have been to have deserved that kind of judgment from God? How much judgment do we deserve? So pray!
Two — no matter who is elected today, God is still on the throne of heaven, and He still has a plan. His plan is to prosper HIS PEOPLE! And that should make HIS PEOPLE rejoice. That doesn’t mean life will be easy, but it does mean that it is well with our souls.
Praying that you have a blessed and prosperous day today! Go vote!
